Unsolved Murder Investigation Continues; 22nd Anniversary for Cold Case of Decatur Realtor

The investigation continues into hte unsolved murder of a Decatur realtor, the same weekend as the Decatur Celebration.

Friday, August 5th will be the 22nd anniversary of the cold case regarding the murder of 30-year old Sherry Lewis. Her twin sister tells WAND News that even to this day, it feels like half of her is gone.

August 5, 1994 is a day Terry Lewis-Foor and her family will never forget. Terry's twin sister, Sherry Lewis, was found strangled and beaten on the kitchen floor of a vacant home, listed for sale on Finch Drive.

Lewis was killed during her appointment to show the home.

"Sherry was just a hard worker and loved life," says Terry Lewis-Foor, remembering her sister.

Lewis-Foor says she thinks about her sister daily and desperately wants to know who committed the murder.

While the entire family misses Sherry, she's grieving the most. She says her and her sister shared a special bond.

"Losing a twin is something you just deal with," says Lewis-Foor. "You don't really ever get over it. You're always going to miss your twin. It's just really difficult because you're learning to be 'one' when you've been 'two' all your life."

The Macon County Sheriff's Department says they are still investigating this cold case.

"It's been very active here within this year," explains Macon County Sheriff's Lieutenant Antonio Brown, "As far as actually doing interviews and things like that, it's still very active."

With increasing technology, the Macon County Sheriff's Department hopes to find who committed the crime.

Lewis-Foor says she joined the Twinless Twins Support Group International, a nonprofit organization and support group for twins who's twin has died. She says the group is helping her heal.

Sherry Lewis's family is asking for help finding the person responsible for the tragedy.
