CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — Illini men's basketball is moving on to the Sweet 16 after a big win over VCU in the second round of the NCAA tournament Saturday night.

The team put together a full 40 minute game lead by Andrej Stojakovic with 21 points in his second March Madness game.

Heading into the tournament, Illini Head Coach Brad Underwood was preaching a one game at a time mentality.

Players said they learned a lot from some close losses this season that prepared them for the big dance.

The Fighting Illini now head to Houston for the Sweet 16, where they will face the #2 seed Houston Cougars on Thursday at 9:05 p.m.
