DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) -Â The weekend is upon us, and there are plenty of things to do and see across central Illinois.

Raise the Woof!
Habitat for Humanity of Champaign County is adding some purr-sonality to its 7th Annual 'Raise the Woof!' Champaign County ReStore teams will compete to build one-of-a-kind cat trees — complete with live building, judging, and public voting.
The community is invited to stop by, cheer on the builders, and support Habitat's mission of creating homes and hope.
When: September 6, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m

Arcola Broomcorn FestivalÂ
Arcola is rolling out the bristles for the 54th Annual Broomcorn Festival, happening September 5–7 in historic downtown Arcola.
Known as the Broomcorn Capital of the World, the festival blends quirky fun and tradition with highlights like the National Broom Sweeping Contest, live broom-making demos, and the world-famous Lawn Rangers Parade.
Visitors can also enjoy craft and food vendors, live entertainment, and a free Sunday concert by Richard Goodall.
When: Saturday, September 6th at 8 a.m. and Sunday, September 7th at 9 a.m.

Artillery Through TimeÂ
History comes to life with thrilling artillery demonstrations featuring both modern and Civil War–era guns.
Visitors can feel the ground shake, hear the booming fire, and even catch the smell of smoke as the "king of battle" takes center stage. Soldiers and living historians will also be on hand to share stories and give a firsthand look at life on the battlefield, past and present.

Mum FestÂ
Fall is in full bloom at the Annual Mum Fest & Vendor Market in rural DeWitt County, just 8 miles east of Clinton.
The farm will transform into a fall wonderland with the largest variety of mums in Illinois, a bustling vendor market, local food, and family-friendly activities.
Admission is free, making it the perfect weekend outing to celebrate the season.
When: Sunday, September 07, 2025, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Barn CrawlÂ
It's time to get your country on at the Macon County Fairgrounds with a one-of-a-kind Barnyard Mini Golf Challenge.
Teams of four will play nine holes of miniature golf inside themed barns, with extras like hay wagon rides, a costume contest, music, food trucks, a petting zoo, and even a mechanical bull.
Teams can register online for $125 through August 25, with late registration available for $150.
