ARTHUR, Ill. (WAND) - The Arthur Public Library celebrated the groundbreaking of its new curiosity courtyard on Wednesday.

The courtyard is part of a collaboration with the Children's Museum of Illinois in Decatur.

The project will connect families with hands-on learning opportunities, while providing kids with a new outdoor play space.

It will also include a reading cabin to encourage children to read while enjoying the space.

"All I can hope is that people in the community take ownership and feel like it's theirs, and not something that they're visiting, but something that they're part of," said Arthur Public Library Director Kelsey Pruitt.

Construction is expected to finish in August.
