Government Shutdown

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The public is invited to attend a virtual University of Illinois Springfield panel to discuss impacts of the government shutdown. 

The lunch and learn discussion titled "What You Voters Need to Know About the 2025 Government Shutdown" will feature UIS faculty members Matt Geras, John Transue, Patty Byrnes and Ty Dooley. 

They will discuss causes and consequences of the shut down. 

The event is planned for noon on October 21. It will be held on Zoom. 

It is free and open to the public and is co-sponsored by the UIS Center for State Policy and Leadership and the UIS School of Politics and International Affairs. 

It will be recorded and shared afterward on NPR Illinois and will all registrants.
