WARRENSBURG, Ill. (WAND) — Special Olympics Illinois will host their annual Region I spring games at Warrensburg-Latham high school Saturday.
Athletes with intellectual disabilities will compete in various track and field events. More than 300 athletes are expected to participate.
The event will start with an opening ceremony at 9 a.m.
Each Special Olympics region across Illinois will host spring games, serving as qualifiers for the annual summer games. Athletes who win gold will receive an invite.
The summer games will be held at Illinois State University from June 20-22.
