MATTOON, Ill. (WAND) — A Coles County judge on Thursday denied pretrial release for a man accused of striking someone else with his vehicle.
Mattoon Police arrested Dale Collier, 53, after officers responded to a hit-and-run crash on Wednesday. Police say the victim is expected to be okay.Â
Collier was initially arrested for attempted reckless homicide, police say, but his charge was later upgraded to attempted first degree murder by the Coles County State's Attorney's Office after further investigation.Â
WAND News requested a charging document from the state's attorney's office to learn more about the reason behind the upgrade.Â
Court records show Collier is due to return for a preliminary hearing on Dec. 1.Â
