Before being booked, Johnson was treated at a hospital for self-inflicted injuries he sustained before the arrest, police said.

On August 20, officers responded to a report of an injured person at a home in the 1900 block of East Main Street. Officers found three victims that had been stabbed.

The victims were 38-year-old Dawnette Sigmon and her two children, ages 14 and 16.

According to police, Johnson took a knife and stabbed Sigmon after a verbal fight turned physical. Police said Johnson also stabbed the two children as they tried to help their mother.

Johnson left the scene in his vehicle, and Sigmon died in the hospital.

The investigation is still active, and anyone with more information is asked to contact Decatur police.
