CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) — A man was hurt after an overnight shooting in Champaign Wednesday.

According to the Champaign Police Department, officers responded to the 1200 block of Redwood Drive just after 2:30 a.m. after reports of a shooting.

When they arrived, officers found a 27-year-old man that had been shot multiple times. He was taken to the hospital, where police said he is in "serious but stable condition."

Police said an initial investigation found that the victim was walking near the 1000 block of West Beardsley Avenue when he got into a fight with someone and was shot. The victim ran and was found by police on Redwood Drive.
