URBANA, Ill. (WAND) - In January 2025, C-U Aerospace was working on launching a first-of-its-kind satellite into space.

Now, its duplex satellite has deployed from the International Space Station.

C-U Aerospace President David Carroll and his team in Urbana had worked on the technology for years.

"The mission will go for about two years. We'll do altitude changes with each thruster. Demonstrate orbit raising, orbit lowering [and] collision avoidance," Carroll said.

Carroll and his team also hope to explore low orbit Earth to benefit future trips to space.
