DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) – Hamburgers, shakes and fries. A new McDonald’s will be constructed on the south side of Decatur.
“Break ground this summer and hopefully be open before the end of the year,” owner Gary Birshbach told WAND News. “We have six restaurants. This will be number seven. And so, we employ almost 500 people.”
This will be the first McDonald’s to serve the South Shores area. The location will be just south of Lake Decatur on Route 51 and South Side Drive.
The site was previously PNC Bank and before that, National City Bank. The bank structure was demolished several years ago and is currently a vacant lot.
