SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — A Springfield man is dead after being hit by a vehicle on Friday.
Springfield Police responded to the 1700 block of South Dirksen Parkway just after 10 p.m. for reports of someone being hit by a vehicle.
When they arrived, officers found 55-year-old Walter D. Arnold on the ground and he was taken to the hospital.
The Sangamon County Coroner confirmed Arnold died in the hospital around 7 a.m. the next morning.
A second person was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Springfield Police Department at 217-788-8311.
