SHELBY COUNTY, Ill. (WAND) - An person in the Shelby County jail died after being found unresponsive in his cell, according to Illinois State Police.
ISP told WAND News they began investigating Monday after being notified by the sheriff's office. The person was found around 2:30 Monday morning.Â
A 49-year-old man was found unresponsive and taken by ambulance to the hospital where they were pronounced dead.Â
Police have not yet said how the person died or released the name of the person.
ISP said no other information is immediately available. Â
