The Beach House reopens after being closed by Macon County Health Department

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - A popular restaurant in Decatur that was shutdown yesterday by the Macon County Health Department has reopened. 

According to the report released yesterday, the inspector observed cigarette butts and ashes in the sink of a storage area. They also noticed a strong smoke smell in the basement. 

The report also said that canned goods were no longer safe for consumption and some other food items were missing date labels. It also shows that some walls and ceiling tiles were soiled near a mixer. 

The restaurant also failed to keep toxic items properly stored and labeled. 

Their score was 57 out of 100.

Owner of The Beach House, said that he welcomes anyone to look at any inspection report filed with health department. He said several of the items in the inspection report were corrected before the health department left on Tuesday. 

Just after noon Wednesday, The Beach House announced on their Facebook page that have reopened. According to the post The Beach House said "We were blindsided by something we never should have experienced, and we hope no other business has to go through. We are better and stronger than ever."
