(WAND) — Springfield-native Sam Antonacci was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the fifth round of the 2024 MLB draft.

The White Sox selected the infielder with the 140 overall pick Monday.
Antonacci spent one year at Coastal Carolina where he batted .367, six homeruns and batted in 47 RBIs.
Before going to Coastal Carolina, he played at Heartland Community College where he averaged a .454 batting average, 33 homeruns and 213 RBIs.
While at Sacred Heart Griffin he was an All-State baseball selection his senior year and a two-time all-conference player he sophomore and senior year.
