DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) - It's warming up fast after a sluggish start to May. Not only will air temperatures peak in excess of 80 degrees this weekend, making it the warmest so far this year, but there's also higher humidity. Â
The combination of lowering pressure with the passage of our latest warm front with higher humidity will be enough to trigger a couple of thunderstorms Saturday morning. Afterward, a weak cap will develop on the atmosphere, lending toward dry afternoon weather. If the cap erodes, an isolated thunderstorm can redevelop Saturday evening, but after Saturday morning, a large part of the remainder of the weekend will be free of rain. Â
If area lakes are calling you, water temperatures are running in the mid-60s. Just make sure to have the free WAND weather app handy with futurecast radar and watches/warnings that track your location.Â
It's time to sit back, relax and enjoy a summer-like weather appetizer. Stay sweaty and stay weather-aware out there.Â
