SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield is offering an up close look at the 16th president's life through a new exhibit.Â
ALPLM will open a new exhibit Friday that is based on the book "Lincoln: The Life and Legacy that Defined a Nation in 100 Objects" by Ian Hunt and Christina Shutt.Â
The new attraction will involve documents and artifacts, including the last axe ever used by Honest Abe. New technology will also be introduced to animate historic photos to make visits more immersive.Â
Shutt, the museum's executive director, shared that this version of the president on display is much more personal.Â
"You'll get to see the kind of the more famous of things, but also the objects that really help us to connect with Lincoln as a person, as a husband, as a father, as a lawyer riding the circuit in Illinois. So we're really excited for the public to see this and get a glimpse of some of the objects that we featured of course in the book as well," Shutt said.Â
The exhibit will be open to the public until April 26, 2026.Â
