TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - Two people were arrested following an early morning standoff in Taylorville Monday.
The Taylorville Police Department said it responded to a reported shots fired call just before 2 a.m. on Feb. 2 near Illini Drive.Â
Police checked the area and heard a door open before a man talked and fired a shot.Â
Taylorville police immediately took cover and called for backup, which included the Taylorville Emergency Response Team (ERT) and a crisis negotiator.Â
Neighbors were told to stay inside, as the negotiator commanded those inside over loudspeaker to leave around 3:45 a.m.
Around 15 minutes later, one person exited and was taken into custody, and then two other people followed suit and were taken into custody.Â
Taylorville police said ERT searched the home and found no other suspects, while Crime Scene members found several weapons.Â
Two people were charged: Matthew Crowder and Michael Gonzales, both of Taylorville.Â
Crowder and Gonzales were charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, and Gonzales was additionally charged with unlawful use of a weapon by a felon.
