CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - A Champaign woman is recovering after police said that shots were fired at her car Monday afternoon.

The Champaign Police Department said it happened around 3:45 p.m. near the intersection of Honeysuckle Lane and Paula Drive. 

Champaign police said a 26-year-old woman was driving when one or more people shot at her, hitting her car several times. 

The woman was hurt, but police said they do not believe the injury was "directly caused" by a bullet, and she is expected to be okay. 

The investigation is ongoing.
