Two girls and an adult missing since a huge explosion tore through a Nebraska biofuels plant are confirmed dead, officials said Wednesday, as firefighters were still battling smoke and flames smoldering in the wreckage nearly a day later.

DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — A family of six and their dog has been displaced, and two cats died after a home caught fire Saturday morning.

The Decatur Fire Department responded to a fire in the 200 block of Bay Shore Drive just after 4 a.m. When they arrived, firefighters saw a heavy fire in the home's attached garage.

The family of six and their dog got out of the house safely before firefighters arrived. The fire heavily damaged the garage and kitchen.

While searching the home, crews found two cats. Despite resuscitation efforts, both cats died from injuries sustained from the fire.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
