Pillsbury Plant Artifact Recovered

The "bicep doughboy panel" recovered from a fire at 413  Adams St.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) — Moving Pillsbury Forward announced that some key artifacts survived the fire that destroyed three tons of art, document, and materials related to the former Pillsbury plant.

Some of the items that were salvaged include the bicep doughboy panel, the smutters chalkboard, three custom metal grain scoops, and the service department rolodex.

A devastating fire ravaged the buildings at 413-415 E. Adams St. in downtown Springfield last month. Multiple businesses were affected and several apartment dwellers were displaced.

In total, the organization estimates that 30% of the collection that was being stored in the building has been recovered.

Moving Pillsbury Forward has begun the planning for a new exhibit featuring the artifacts and is looking for a new place to store them.
