New concert venue bringing an economic boost to Paxton

PAXTON, Ill. (WAND) — A new music venue is bringing tunes to downtown Paxton.

The Cadillac held its first few concerts this past weekend, and they're off to a rocking start.

Owner and Paxton native Alan Meyer said they've never had anything like it growing up in Paxton.

"We really didn't have any kind of entertainment per say in Paxton back when I was growing up. There was bowling alleys and movie theaters and such and there really wasn't anything," said Meyer.

Restaurants, hotels, and local stores are all benefiting from the new warehouse-style concert venue.

"We have to cater them food in, so we'll go to the local grocery stores or use a local caterer, so that's bringing in revenue. Bus drivers usually have to sleep somewhere while the band is performing so we take them to a local hotel," stated Meyer.

People have traveled near and far to hear the artists coming to play; and they've only just begun.

"We are noticing people coming from out of state even to come to our venue. The word is getting out about Paxton. How friendly it is, how clean it is, how there's things to do," said Meyer.

The Voice Season 23 winner and Paxton native, Gina Miles will be coming to perform at The Cadillac later this month on October 28th and October 29th.

Tickets are sold out for the first show, and they're selling quickly for the second show.
