DECATUR, Ill. (WAND) — Volunteers from Foundation Recovery System spent the morning doing demo work inside a home on East Johns Avenue.
The home is a new initiative from Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity. Instead of building a new home for a deserving family or person, the organization will remodel a home.

"With the money we've had donated from several organizations, like ADM Cares and the city, we've started to revitalize homes now, which is something the community wanted," said Ed Smith, Executive Director of Decatur Area Habitat for Humanity.
To help get the home move-in ready, a group from Foundation Recovery Systems donated their time and tools to help demo parts of the home.
"We're dealing with the community daily, not always volunteer work, but it's just a nice way to be able to give back to a city that has given to us," said Timber Shelton, Certified Field Inspector.
