DANVILLE, Ill. (WAND) - The Danville-area community paid tribute to the late Senator Scott Bennett during a Memorial Tree Dedication ceremony on Wednesday.
The ceremony took place on the lawn south of Prairie Hall at Danville Area Community College. Scott Bennett's Brother, Robert, his Uncle Senator Tom Bennett (R), Senate President Don Harmon (D), and Governor JB Pritzker helped dedicate the tree.

During his time in office, Senator Bennett worked hard to secure funding for education, as well as pass legislation to make college affordable and accessible for people throughout the state.
"Scott believes in being the voice for the voiceless, recognizing those living in the margins and constantly working to give them a say and ease their burden," said Senate President Harmon.
DACC said the memorial was very important to students and the college wanted to make sure Bennett was honored.
