WAND Sports' Athlete of the Week!
Each week, sports director Mark Pearson, Evan Abramson and Orlando Toatley put the spotlight on a local high school athlete who is excelling not only as an athlete, but as a student and a community member!
To submit a student-athlete's name, please send a detailed list of his/her accolades to Orlando Toatley on Facebook or via email at otoatley@wandtv.com.
Congratulations to Avery Oberheim!
The Monticello senior is a stand-out in softball as a pitcher and hitter!
She has a 3.9 GPA and is headed to Heartland Community College next year to play softball!
Avery also is a part of a community effort to keep individuals off of alcohol and drugs!
She says her love for the game started at the age of 8 years old when her grandfather and father took her on trips to local games.
